Caliber : .404 Jeffery
This big bore African rifle has been built on a much-modified old ZKK602 magnum action made circa 1967.
The 24½" Poldi 358 Norma Magnum original barrel was re-bored at Ferlach and cut rifled to .423" caliber and then we chambered it for the superb .404 Jeffery cartridge.
The action has been entirely blue printed, modified and adapted to the new round with great attention to the feeding, cycling and ejection. We fitted a new machined side safety shroud and the trigger was converted to single stage.
We made a new set of express sights with a widely open gold lined rear sight and quickly interchangeable caterpillar front under sliding protector.
We used the very nice walnut of the original big stock to make the 14" LOP new one to our own taste, with clean classic lines, good checkering and all steel new fittings.
The barreled action, with recoil block, was assembled with epoxy bedding on steel pillars.
The overall rifle was completely refinished in restrained fashion but with great care and we take great attention to the hand engraving of the serial number and caliber, the safe detail on the shroud being gold inlaid.
That working rifle is extremely reliable and accurate, and it's intended to be used under difficult situation in Africa.
Its weight of 8lbs 10oz is perfectly tailored for the 404 Jeffery caliber.
