SCHULTZ & LARSEN
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : 7x61 Sharpe & Hart Super
Superb and rare model 65DL rifle chambered for the legendary 7x61 Sharpe & Hart cartridge manufactured in 1961 by SCHULTZ & LARSEN GEVÆRFABRIK in Denmark.
Because of a too high cost few of these rifles of exceptional quality have been produced[1].
Here is a particularly interesting version because if it corresponds in all respects to the 65DL model it benefits from the new safety that would definitely equip the future 68DL. The extreme endurance tests conducted by the ballisticians at HP White Laboratory, Inc. have shown that the tubular S&L action with its quadruple back locks was the most resistant to high pressure with a functional limit of 129.000 psi while the best of the Mauser 98 'system gave up at 90.000 psi.
The Bofors steel, forged and heat treated at 55° Rockwell, massive receiver hosts a cylindrical ground bolt with four rear locking studs, three gas escape ports, recessed head and self locking extractor. That configuration allows for a smooth handling and limits the bolt lift to 45° only for easy low scope mounting.
The excellent single stage trigger is set at a 30 oz. light breaking let off.
The slim, made of Swedish Bofors steel, match grade barrel measures 24" and is chambered for the famous 7x61 Super, the child of Philip Burdette SHARPE, a cartridge he created ten years before the 7mmRM with the complicity of the gunsmith Richard F. HART and the help of Richard DICHBURN.
This cartridge designed as a universal 7mm was developed from the high-speed French 7x61 MAS M1907 prototype.
Extremely accurate and pleasing to shoot the 7x61 Super, continually improved by NORMA, owes nothing on the field to his Remington successor. If the brass [Norma 7x61 Super #20270115] are still available from the original manufacturer and distributed in Europe by Reimer Johannsen, the cartridge is easily reloadable and can be made from 7mmRM cases.

The barreled action is fitted in a quality 14½" LOP stock made of well-seasoned European walnut. Nicely checkered and finished that stock retains its original unmolested soft buttplate bearing the manufacturer name.
A SWAROVSKI "Habicht" 8x50 R4 scope with a Ø 30mm steel tube, fitted on ERNST APEL steel mounts, permits to take full advantage of the rifle accuracy.
That 65DL weighs 7lbs 6oz un-scoped and only 8lbs 15oz equipped with the Austrian top-notch steel scope.
Of course the whole assy benefits from our full warranty.
* The rifle will be delivered with a batch of 100 new cartridges *
[1] In 1970, at the end of production, despite a price reduced at $ 485, equivalent to $ 3,110 in 2017, only 57 rifles were sold in the USA. At the same time a Mauser 66 was offered at $ 240 ...!
