Category : C
Caliber : 9,3x74R
This beautiful and rare 9.3x74R ejector double rifle made by the prestigious craftsman Herbert Scheiring has been proofed at Ferlach in November 1987.
The gun appears to have been very sparingly or not used and has come to us in remarkably fresh condition.
The mechanism patented by Scheiring is based on the "verticalblockverschluss" system developed by Franz Jaeger before the war, in which two solid steel cylinders lock into the mortises machined into the barrel tile while a sliding bolt locks the hook machined at the rear of the barrels flat.
A nicely designed lever, hinged in front of the trigger guard, using the Woodward snap-action principle, controls opening.
The hammer type ejectors are of H&H pattern and the first trigger is fitted with an adjustable set "stecher".
The 25¾" barrels sport an express rib on which a large V two leafs rear sight is regulated on a silver bead front sight set on an elegant elongated ramp.
The coin-finished action is chased with hunting scenes executed in deep-relief and all the fittings, detonators and sighting rib are engraved of traditional German oak leaves.
The 14½" LOP stock, made of nice quality European walnut (juglans regia), bears a slightly curved comb and triple fillet Bavarian cheekpiece while the rounded fore-end supports the Deeley latch.
The Kaisergriff pistol grip and forearm feature a large and remarkably executed fish-scale checkering.
Of course, this 8lbs. 3oz double rifle delivers an excellent 1,5" to 2" accuracy for two consecutive shots at sixty meters with traditional 9,3x74R 285 grain loads.
This Scheiring double is in perfect condition and bears our full guarantee.
