This Colt Officer's Model Target .38 Special revolver, third series, is one of the very last models to leave the Hartford factory in 1950.
The Officer's Model Target was officially sold from 1927 to 1949, and after the war, only the 6" barrel version was offered.
This example, equipped with a rare 4.5" barrel, was a special order.
The barrel, with its crisp, bright rifling, is in perfect condition. It bears the inscription *OFFICERS MODEL 38* on the left side, and the date of the last patent, October 5, 1926, is engraved on the top.
This Colt revolver is equipped with adjustable sights: Elevation adjustable beaded blade front and windage adjustable rear notch sights on the frame.
The original bluing is superbly preserved, and the walnut grip panels are flawless.
Note the checkering on the back strap, the trigger face, the hammer spur, and the cylinder release button.
The mechanism operates smoothly and without any play.
This very fine Colt Officer's Model Target .38 Special, third series, with its 4.5" barrel, is both a collector's item and a superb target revolver.
