Colt "New Service" Commercial Late Model

Category : B
Caliber : .45 Colt
An exceptional commercial example of COLT "New Service" Late Model revolver, leaving the Hartford factory in 1929.
1929 marked the onset of the Great Depression, a critical period that slowed Colt's production; the "Late Model" generation of this revolver, produced from 1928 to 1941, incorporated finish details shared with the "Shooting Master" series, which utilized the same large frame.
This superb revolver features a hand-fitted 1908 type double-action mechanism, a flattened and serrated anti-glare top strap, and hand-cut checkering on the front and back straps of the grip, the face of the trigger, and the hammer spur.
Chambered in .45 Colt and featuring a 5½-inch barrel, this New Service is finished entirely in "Colt Blue", a deep, uniform, high-quality, and durable commercial bluing.
The ejector rod head features the "double-collar" checkered profile typical of this production era, while the barrel bears updated patent markings while the "Rampant Colt" logo is stamped on the left side of the frame.
The grips, featuring Colt logo, are made of Gutta-Percha [black hard rubber] and despite being a civilian model, the revolver retains the lanyard ring found on the Model 1917.
This nearly century-old revolver is in remarkable condition, boasting a pristine perfect bore, an extremely tight barrel-cylinder gap, and a smooth action with absolutely no lock-up play.
The near-mint condition of the cylinder chambers and the absence of residue or fouling on the cylinder face suggest that the gun has seen very little use, despite minor signs of handling and storage.
This Colt "New Service" Late Model comes with our full warranty.
