Pre.64 Mod. 70 – Unertl scope
WINCHESTER
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : .243 Winchester
This superb "vintage" example of the famous pre-64 Model 70, manufactured at the Winchester plant in New Haven in 1959, is chambered for the .243 Winchester cartridge which had been introduced four years earlier.
The rifle is in near-mint condition and remains unmodified, save for a period-correct Timney trigger set to 25 oz. and invisible bedding job under the recoil lug to maximize the accuracy of its pristine bore 24-inch barrel.
That mod. 70 is fitted with a very rare period Unertl 1¼" Varmint 12x scope set on dehorned micro mounts.
Like the rifle, the glass, mounted on original bases, is in like-new condition.
When shot at the range at 200 meters, this Winchester 70 delivers remarkable accuracy and flawless operation.
This is a quintessential "Vietnam Era" piece chambered in a highly practical and accurate caliber.
L.O.P is 13¾" on the original black composition buttplate and if the whole assy weights 9lbs 5oz the rifle alone is 7lbs 13oz.
Indeed that superb vintage set benefits of our entire guarantee.
