Mod. 700 ADL .270W First Production
REMINGTON
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : .270 Winchester
REMINGTON started marketing its iconic model 700 in 1962, the result of the development of engineer Mike Walker.
This particular rifle left the REMINGTON ARMS C° factory in Ilion N.Y, in July 1964.
This ADL, caliber .270 Winchester, sports a 20" barrel assembled on a type 721 transition receiver recognizable by the presence on the rear bridge of the milling allowing the use of 1903 loading clips.
The light Monte-Carlo stock, made of good American walnut (juglans nigra), retains the pressed checkering typical of the model and the rare checkered aluminum butt plate ensuring the usual US 13½" LOP.
This rifle arrives to us in a superb state of conservation, equipped with its original adjustable rear sight and Marble's front bead on welded ramp.
The graceful manganese steel bolt lever, whose finish turns burgundy, differs from later versions while the safety, the large button of which controls the locking, blocks also the bolt manipulation in the closed position. We also note the special shape of the abbreviated bolt shroud and the extreme quality of the trigger mechanism that allows single stage, safe and light let-off.
This REMINGTON is equipped with a period WEAVER model K6-1 Plex reticle steel tube scope, fitted on a rare REDFIELD Junior 4 screw mount from the same period.
With a barrel bore in superb condition and a smooth and perfect functioning action, this 700 ADL shoots remarkably.
It is difficult to compare this initial version to the productions that have come down to us as the quality of manufacturing and the care taken in machining demonstrate a remarkable difference.
The production cost inevitably had to lead to manufacturing simplifications without greatly altering the initial quality of the concept.
Scoped, the rifle weighs 8lb 6.7oz and 7lb 6oz without glass.
This REMINGTON 700 ADL first production run supports indeed our full guarantee.
