IDEAL N°3 – 1927
MANUFRANCE
Shotguns
Category : C
Caliber : 12-70mm-2¾"
That stunning Ideal No. 3 shotgun was manufactured in 1927 by Manufrance Saint-Étienne.
This 12-gauge model features 28" chopper lump barrels and is factory-chambered for 2¾" shells.
The superb "Hercule" steel barrels, bored at .728" on the right and .724" on the left, retain their original chokes, perfect gleaming bores, and virtually all of their original bluing.
Similarly, the action body, featuring understated ornamentation, retains a significant amount of its original period bone and charcoal color case hardening.
The action is very tight, the locking mechanism is solid, and the operation is flawless.
The straight English style stock measures 14" to the black horn butt plate, which bears the "Manu" logo.
The blond French walnut features beautiful grain, and the extensive checkering is remarkably well preserved while the automatic sling mechanism is fully functional.
This legendary shotgun, perfectly balanced at the hinge pin, weighs 6lb 9oz.
It is rare to find century old Manufrance Ideal No. 3 in such excellent condition; a testament to the high manufacturing quality of the Manufrance workshops during the interwar period.
