Caliber : .404 Jeffery Rimless
We completed the construction of this safari rifle in 2010.
This .404 Jeffery uses a rare Original Mauser solid wall action with front flat top only.
Fully blue printed and reliable, this mechanism has been optimized for the DGX® 400-grains cartridge and uses a high-capacity magnum magazine, side swing two positions safety and a single stage trigger with a specially hand made bow to position it on the guard rear end.
The 26" Lothar Walther match grade barrel, chambered for the .404 Jeffery [aka 10.75x73], sports a rear express sight whose the wide V standard is highlighted by an inlaid gold triangle while the two folding leaflets are gold lined, the whole regulated on an interchangeable caterpillar front sight fitted on an elongated ramp with fold away protector.
To take advantage of the accuracy of the rifle and ease fast fire, it is equipped with a Schmidt & Bender "Classic" 1.25-4x20 with illuminated R4 Circle Dot reticle. A traditional claw mount fitted to the scope tube integral rail makes it possible to quickly take off the scope without alteration of the sighting and perfect return to zero. To do this we chose to braze the front base to the barrel while the rear lock is inserted in the receiver bridge.
The 14½" LOP stock, made of beautiful and perfectly seasoned high-grade French walnut, retains our modernized classic style with a straight comb and a beaded oval cheekpiece. A trapped cap ends the elongated grip while the soft buttplate is leather covered.
The claw mount bases, the sights supports, the screws head and the grip cap are "Royale" engraved whereas the serial number is relief gold inlaid on the trigger guard bow and on the receiver left side front ring as is the “SAFE” detail on the safety shroud. Action, barrel and magazine are traditionally rust blued, the furniture, grip cap and some fittings are bone and charcoal color case hardened while the extractor blade and ejector box spring are nitre blued.
This perfectly balanced rifle weighs 8lbs 11oz and 9lbs 14oz scoped.
Unfortunately the original owner sells this superb piece for health reasons and as this rifle has well served him on several West Africa safaris it has just been the subject of a full overhaul in our workshop.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a splendid "Dangerous Game Rifle" at a price much lower than the cost of building an identical one at present time.
Indeed its operation as its accuracy carries our entire guarantee.
