Category : C
Caliber : .338 Winch. Mag.
This WINCHESTER model 70, pre-64 "Alaskan" chambered for the brand new .338 Winchester Magnum1 left the New-Haven factory in 1960.
The 25" barrel retains the Lyman folding rear sight mod.16B and, on a n°5 ramp, the mod.31 front sight under sliding protector.
The slightly Monte Carlo American walnut (juglans nigra) stock LOP is 13½" measured on the solid red rubber butt pad.
The matt satin finished receiver (.458" short magnum) is equipped with a beautiful steel BUEHLER extension mount, whose Ø 26mm rings support to the lowest an HENSOLDT Wetzlar "Diasta" 2¾ x 21 scope with post n°1 reticle.
All metallic parts of the rifle and its fittings are made of machined steel and are blued.
This rifle is in a remarkable state of preservation, with an excellent bore and a tight action.
We also note the presence of Saint-Etienne national proof house old marks that suggests that the weapon was imported and distributed in its time by Ets. HUMBERT, representatives of WINCHESTER brand in the 1960s.
Besides its rarity2 in this version, chambered for one of the best modern "medium bore" cartridges, and associating the best features of the proven Mauser 98' controlled feeding system to the smoothness and balance of a modern rifle, that WINCHESTER is the perfect “Classic” choice for world wide hunting on the five continents.
This "Alaskan" rifle weighs 7lb. 15oz unscoped and 9lb. 2oz. with the HENSOLDT glass mounted and, indeed, it bears our full guarantee.
