Colt Official Police .22lr

COLT

Handguns

Category : B

Caliber : .22lr

Rare .22lr caliber 6" barrel model in superb condition released from the Hartford factory in 1959.

The gun retains more than 95% of the original finishes with a barrel close to absolute new and a rigorously indexed mechanism.

The Colt Official Police revolver is the successor to the Colt Army Special built on the type "E" or 41 frame.

After World War II, Colt resumed commercial production of this legendary revolver by reverting to the pre-war polished blued finish and in 1954 checkered wooden grips were reintroduced.

Colt's "Positive Lock" firing pin block safety is a standard feature of the action; this device prevents the firing pin from striking the primer until the trigger is deliberately pressed.

Colt produced the .22 Official Police in small quantities from 1930 to 1966 with a production hiatus between 1940 and 1947.
