Caliber : .300 Winchester Magnum
This rifle was built in 2010 for a customer wanting a versatile caliber that could be used both for driven hunt and for shooting large deer or antelopes.
The chosen caliber is the .300 Winchester Magnum.
This weapon uses a blue printed and modified Mauser 98' DWM 1908 action, optimized for 180 grains cartridges
The magazine bears an opening straddle floorplate while the bolt is fitted with a three-position side swing safety and a lowered operating lever.
The special trigger, set for a single stage 2,5lb let off, built on the basis of a Recknagel system positions its curved tail at the rear of the trigger guard.
The 25" Lothar Walther match grade barrel supports the claw mount front base and an express sight line consisting of an inclined V rear sight regulated on a contrasting front bead on an extended ramp.
An Schmidt & Bender Zenith 2.5-10x56 R4A scope is fitted on the hand made claw mount.
The 15" LOP stock, made of nice French walnut, is classic styled with straight comb, beaded oval cheek piece, ebony forend tip, 3/4" leather covered pad and steel grip cap.
The receiver, the magazine, the claw mount and rings, the screws, the grip cap have been engraved in "Royale" while the serial number is inlaid in gold in relief on the trigger guard.
All action parts and fittings are finished in gray cyanide hardening*; the barrel and sights remaining deep black blued.
The bare rifle weighs 8lbs. 4oz. and 10lbs. 1oz. scoped, a very comfortable shooting weight helping accuracy.
This weapon has been the subject of a very careful overhaul in our workshop; its operation and its accuracy bear our guarantee.
We offer this gun and scope assembly at a much lower price than the cost of building an identical one at present time.
* A process of introducing carbon and nitrogen into the surface of steel by heating it to a suitable temperature in a molten bath of sodium and potassium cyanide, diluted with sodium carbonate and quenching in oil or water.
This process is used where a thin case and high hardness are required.
