The firearms produced by Fratelli RIZZINI in Magno, Val Trompia, are currently considered among the very best, if not the best, made in Italy.

Indeed, under the F^lli RIZZINI name, they produce shotguns whose incredible quality stems from the extraordinary standards of this small manufacturer.

The Model R2-E 20 gauge we are offering for sale is all the more exceptional because, although proofed in 1979, it is in absolutely mint condition and appears to have fired only proof cartridges.

F^lli RIZZINI has completely redesigned the Anson boxlock system that is presented here in a version whose finish is more akin to that of the watchmaking industry than to that of standard gunsmithing.

Concealed under a cleverly removable cover with invisible fitting, the mechanism reveals an extraordinary finish, with perfect polishing also evident on the action flats, the forend iron, and the flats and lugs of the chopper lump barrels.

The compact, elegantly scalloped, action features a double Purdey locking system, while the crisp, clean trigger pull is controlled by a single trigger housed in the arc of a stylish trigger guard.

All its surfaces, like all the furniture, are finely engraved with English ornamentation, a blend of scrolls and bouquets while the belly plate allowed master engraver Walter PATELLI to depict a pair of partridges caught in a shot pattern.

The coin finish gray perfectly highlights the high quality of the engraving.

The 20-2¾" chambered barrels measure 27½" and their chopper lump construction is so well done that the join is virtually undetectable.

Bored .626", the long chokes reduce the muzzle to .618" on the right (2/10" ~ Imp.) and to .594" on the left (8/10" ~ Imp. Mod.).

The cartridge extractors are of wide circumference and the concave sight rib is tapered along the barrels length.

The hammer ejectors are a more efficient variation of the H&H system patented by F^lli RIZZINI, with cocking upon closing via a sliding block.

The 14½" LOP straight stock, made of high-grade French walnut, is set with a 14k gold oval and ends with a slim red English butt pad.

The wood is perfectly oil finished, while both grip and forend feature striking flat borderless checkering.

This shotgun, in absolutely mint condition, weighs 6lb-3oz and boasts a perfectly balanced centering thanks to a balanced mass distribution of 3lb for the receiver and stock and 3lb-2oz for the barrel and forend.

The gun is presented in its original leather case, complete with manufacturer's label and accessories.
