Caliber : 9,3x74R-9,3x74R & 12/70-7x65R
Nice sidelocks over-under express double rifle, made circa 1990 by Franz SODIA, in Ferlach, Austria, and fitted with an interchangeable set of combined shotgun and rifle barrels.
The 24" chopper lump express barrels are made from Böhler "Super Blitz" steel and are chambered for the 9,3x74R cartridge. Their convergence has been lately perfectly regulated by Winkler and the outside wedge still must be finished.
The action uses a Kersteen upper bar with double bolt lugs at the barrels and sports two H&H rear springs sidelocks, easily detachable by means of a concealed key.
The front trigger, that shots the under barrel, is a combined set hair trigger.
The entire action has been finely engraved with hunting scenes on Germanic scrolls background, the whole being grey finished.
The 15?" LOP stock is made of oil finished French walnut with traditional Bavarian cheekpiece and the double rifle forend is of the three parts pattern.
The combined 26" gun and rifle barrels, chopper lump assembled and also made from "Super Blitz" Böhler steel, are 12 gauge and 7x65R, with a 8/10° choke on the scatter barrel.
Each set is fitted with a Zeiss "Diavari" Z 1,5-6x42 R4 scope on claw mounts and their accuracy and performance are flawless.
In double rifle mode, the gun weights 7lbs 1oz net and 8lbs 7oz scoped, while with combined barrels the weight is 6lbs 6oz and 7lbs 11oz.
