Original, innovative and very strong over-under born in the interwar period, this gun was produced from 1933 in a very small numbers by RIVOLIER in Saint-Étienne.
The G1003 model is designed around a rotating opening system with side swing barrels. The ribless barrels fits on the right side and locks by turning them up.
Proof marks appearing on the left side show that this gun was double tested for "T" powder at Saint-Etienne proof house.
The 28'' tubes, 7/10° & 9/10° choked, are the work of HEURTIER and are labeled "Canons de Sécurité" (safety barrels).
An extractor common for both cartridges is housed between the barrels and is controlled by two guides located on either side of the chambers, themselves actuated by a mechanism arranged in a housing mortised into the left side of the action.
The woods are selected French walnut with the skip a line checkering at the rounded grip and forearm.
The 14¼'' LOP half pistol stock ends to the action with a carved wood side plate decorated with a frieze of acanthus leaves on matted background. The same plate, unadorned, is replicated on the forend as an extension of the collar flange.
All metal parts are blued in the slow rust fashion and the action flats are adorned with an hand engraved foliated pattern, the triggers, safety and release button being gilded with fine gold.
This 5lb 14oz lightweight gun remains perfectly balanced with harmonious weight distribution.
It is in a remarkable state of preservation, like new and is presented in its original M-F carrying period case.
Its high quality finish and its original high price explain the rarity of this very original piece.
