Special Long Range Rifle
DORLEAC & DORLEAC
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : .270 Winch.
That rifle was built more than ten years ago in the style of the great "Long Range Rifles" made by the best US gun makers before WWII.
Constructed on a 1908 DWM Mauser action with a .277" Heym barrel and an old blank of fine French walnut, it was a not expense spared project, blending the "Good Old Time" evocation with the best of modern gun making.
For the .270W 24" barrel we have chosen an heavy sporter profile with a .670" muzzle, fitted with ring sight base and Rigby pattern front sight and swivel band while the 14½" LOP stock was treated in the classic G&H manner of the period, with color case hardened steel butt plate and trapped grip cap.
A gorgeous engraving adorn all the surfaces of the action that are rust blued like the barrel whereas the stock is oil finished to a satin dull surface bringing to light the walnut figures.
As needed on such a "Long Range Rifle" the sighting equipment is top notch with a long slide Lyman 48, a folding gold lined rear sight, a combined moon sight front bead and a marvelous original Lyman 10x "Junior Targetspot" completely overhauled by Parsons.
Indeed the bases can accept any Unertl, Fecker or Lyman scope of the same kind, but also, they are machined to be converted easily for a three leaves traditional express sight.
The superb quality DWM action has been blue printed, squared, honed and fitted with a high capacity drop box magazine, a side swing safety and a vintage Canjar trigger tuned to 1lb clean break.
That rifle is in as new condition and it's offered to a price without relation with its original cost.
Without scope it weights 9lbs-2oz and 10lbs-7oz fitted with the Lyman.
