1886 40-82WCF Musket
WINCHESTER
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : 40-82WCF
Nearly 160,000 model 1886s were produced from 1886 until 1935.
The Model 1886 Musket is the rarest of all Winchester lever action muskets.
With a total production of Model 1886 musket of just over 350 pieces, it is therefore a very rare piece, which is more in an unusual caliber and in perfect working condition.
This specimen dates back to 1888 and remains one of the very first muskets that came out of the New Haven factory.
The non standard length 25" barrel adopts a traditional round profile and is chambered for the 40-82WCF, a powerful cartridge initially loaded with 82 gr. of FFG powder behind a 260 gr. bullet.
The rifle corresponds in all respects to the description of the MADIS and has not undergone any modification with the exception of a provision for a diopter on the receiver tail, a threaded hole without plug screw.
The metal parts are uniformly smooth brown tobacco, without oxidation.
The functioning doesn't require any remark, it remains tight and the original wood is well preserved, oiled finished with only a small professionally executed repair in the upper right of the grip.
The stock measures 13½" from the trigger to the steel butt plate and the weapon weighs 8lb 7oz.
This is a rare opportunity for a challenging collector.
