Category : C
Caliber : .348 WCF
Very nice sample of Winchester model 71 leaving the New Haven factory in 1951.
The 71 was produced in 1935 to modernise the Winchester 1886 using modern steels and a "Proof Steel" barrel for the powerful .348 WCF* cartridge.
Originally designed as a "Heavy Timber Gun" it met with justified success in Alaska.
This rifle is in superb fresh condition and has only been used a little.
Despite some slight handling and storage marks it retains almost all of its original finishes and its barrel is perfect.
The mechanism is still tight with smooth operation without any play.
The barrel measures 24" and the American walnut stock (juglans nigra) displays a 14" LOP on the steel butt plate.
Obviously this 8lb rifle retains our full guarantee.
* WCF is the original name for Winchester Center Fire
For the .348 Winchester cartridge, Hornady loads an excellent 200 gr FTX® LeverEvolution® under reference #82738 and Winchester loads the traditional 200 Grain Super X under reference #X3484
