Plains Game .318 Rimless Ejector W-R Double Rifle
WESTLEY-RICHARDS
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : .318 W-R Rimless NE
This rare "Plains Game" double rifle was built by WESTLEY RICHARDS & C° Ltd in 1913 for J. LYONS & C° Ltd for their Indian branch LYONS & LYONS in Calcutta.
Chambered for the legendary .318 W-R Rimless NE, this drop-lock is perfectly suited for Continental hunting.
The action is the traditional forged boxlock, with Purdey double grip and W-R key locking at the doll head. The opening cover plate gives access to the patented removable A&D locks while the specific rimless cartridge extractors are struck by the powerful hammers of the Deeley ejectors.
The 26" barrels that rotate around a large diameter fixed spindle remain in excellent condition with well-defined inner grooves and clean bore.
They are regulated for a 2" at 70 yards convergence.
The slightly fleeing rib carries a five leaves express rear sight regulated on a gold bead with combined a moon sight.
The typically classic Westley stock, with its untouched 14½" length of pull measured from the first trigger to the center of the monogrammed horn butt plate, has been made of beautiful French walnut while the horn tipped splinter forend is locked by a Deeley latch.
The large scroll ornamental engraving, typical of the famed Birmingham gun maker, mixes elegant acanthus with banners bearing his name.
This superbly balanced "Plains Game Ejector Double Rifle" weights 9 lbs 1oz.
The rifle is sold with the "Authentification Certificate" issued by WESTLEY RICHARDS & C° Ltd and signed by the late Simon Clode.
