MAUSER ORIGINAL OBENDORF
Category : C
Caliber : 6,5x57 Mauser
A truly exceptional late Original Mauser rifle made at Oberndorf circa 1945 as a "S" type stutzen chambered for the 6,5x57 Mauser cartridge.
Its 20" barrel bears a two leaves rear sight regulated on the traditional front transverse bead under typical protector.
The late type action is fitted with a German double set trigger and a lever bolted magazine floorplate completes the system, while the pear shaped knob is inside checkered. Into the receiver a plug droven by the sear spring acts as a secure preventing unneeded bolt lift.
The left side of the receiver bears the "Mauserwerke A.G Oberndorf a/N" marking with Waffenamt and Oberndorf proofmarks.
The elegant 14¼" LOP full stock, made of nice dark walnut, follows the classic Mauser pattern with double schnabel, beaded oval cheekpiece and curved steel butt plate; the front schnabel being made of black buffalo horn.
An Hensoldt Wetzlar "Diasta" 6x42 R4 scope is affixed on finely crafted and engraved claw mounts with the half top rings soldered to the scope steel tube.
The front bell of the scope is engraved with the same serial number that reads on the trigger guard bow.
That superb Mauser, perfect in every respect, functions flawlessly and shoots very accurately; a similar one appears in famed Lester Womack book.
Net weight 7lbs 4oz. and 8lbs 9oz scoped.
