Single Shot Falling Block Schuetzen Target Rifle
C.G. HAENEL
Rifles
Category : C
Caliber : .22lr
Superb shooting rifle made circa 1937 by Carl Gottlieb HAENEL in Suhl on a falling block system designed by Hugo Schmeisser.
The magnificent 28¼" Böhler steel octagonal ribbed barrel is chambered for the .22 Long rifle, as indicated on the top of the action front ring above the HAENEL logo in an arrow.
The strong receiver incorporates the falling block whose striking system is cocked when opening the trigger guard lever.
A large extractor blade flushes the shot cartridge case and reveals access to the chamber.
Behind the block, a square screw is used to adjust the trigger and a steel plate caliper, secured to the housing by a knurled screw, protects its access. This protection is often absent on models that have experienced a hectic life.
The sighting is ensured by a splendid fine adjustments diopter fixed on the upper tang. That diopter benefits of a large multi openings disc controlled by a wheel hidden in its lower part.
The barrel rail supports a micrometric rear sight with interchangeable notches while a quickly interchangeable front blade is fixed on a textured ramp with lever lock.
The semi-orthopedic stock made of very close-grained walnut, displays a 14¼" LOP measured on the thin red butt pad while the large forearm guarantees an excellent hold.
Perfectly executed sharp checkering covers a large area and the stock bears three sling eyelets, one of which attaches the steel cap to the grip.
This weapon, in a rare state of preservation, almost close to new, retains its factory finishes.
Thanks to an excellent mirror bore barrel, the accuracy is surprising, far superior to many modern products.
