Caliber : .280 Ackley Impoved

We built this rifle on a rare original SCHULTZ & LARSEN Mod. 68DL system, an extremely tough, Bofors steel made, action whose rigorous manufacturing makes it the perfect foundation for a high-precision rifle.

This mechanism, the last of the RPLT 42 line, which for hunting rifles began in 1950 with the Mod.54, came out of the Danish, Otterup, factory in the late sixties before the company ended its costly production in 1970.

Once the action was perfectly blue printed, we fitted a 25" LOTHAR WALTHER Match Grade barrel, chambered for the formidable .280 Ackley Impoved, a cartridge that delivers performance close to the 7^mm Remington Magnum with less recoil.

The excellent original single stage trigger is retained and set for a 1lb 14oz pull.

To take full advantage of the caliber, the receiver bears two custom made bases for D&D modified TALLEY rings that support the KAHLES Helia 3 4-12x44i scope with illuminated G4BRX stadia reticle, mounted at its lowest setting.

The rear base can accommodate a peep sight regulated on the front bead.

The 14½" LOP stock is crafted from a beautiful piece of old blank of well-figured French walnut.

Classically shaped, it features a straight comb, an oval beaded cheekpiece and an elongated grip typical of the D&D style.

To maintain best accuracy the action is bedded on AU4G pillars

A narrow, leather covered butt pad, a finely engraved steel grip cap, and a scalloped shield complete the perfectly checkered stock and forend.

The markings on the barrel are hand-engraved, while the serial number is inlaid in gold on the receiver left side and on the trigger guard.

With the exception of the grip cap engraved rosace and antiglare treatement on the front sight ramp, no ornamentation detracts from the elegance of this completely blued rifle.

With the excellent HORNADY 162-grain ELD-X® Precision Hunter® load, this .280 AI rifle delivers formidable long-range accuracy and remarkable energy retention, making it the ideal weapon for all continental game.

The rifle alone weighs 8lb 2oz and 9lb 7oz scoped.
